Outline amplifies Techno genius Richie Hawtin at the First Festival
The ‘First Festival’, organised and promoted by RST Events, is currently one of the most important and spectacular Techno music events in Italy.
Sven Väth, Chris Liebing, Joseph Capriati, Nina Kraviz, Loco Dice, Jeff Mills, Solomun, Adam Beyer, Luca Agnelli, Sam Paganini and Marco Faraone are just some of the world’s most famous DJs who have performed at the festival.
Richie Hawtin, the protagonist of the last edition, is one of international Techno’s heavyweights. Adiel burned up the ‘dancefloor’ of the RDS Stadium with her unmistakable style. She is one of the most successful lady DJs on the Italian and European music scene.
The Outline sound system — reconfirmed for the tenth consecutive year — was supplied and installed by Show Technologies™, a Genoa company specialised in the supply of AVL technology for entertainment.
The rig comprised 24 Butterfly and 24 subwoofer DBS 18-2 – the latter in “end-fire” array configuration – as well as 6 Mantas on ‘side-fill’ duty and 6 Mantas for ‘front-fill’ coverage, amplified by Outline power amps and processors.
Giancarlo ‘Jerry’ Paladini, technician and sound manager, states: “After ten years, I feel at home here at the First Festival, as this system has been reconfirmed for every edition. I feel really comfortable using it. It is lightweight and can be set up rapidly, but is also efficient and precise. We manage to easily cover an audience 60 metre deep and 30 wide. I entrust the sound design to Openarray 3D, Outline’s acoustic modelling software, which I consider to be a tool with truly surgical precision. What it simulates is exactly what you achieve in reality, down to the last millisecond. Once on site, we touch base with the sound engineers and DJs, who are all extremely experienced from a technical point of view and, after just a few moments, we get the “go ahead”.
The First Festival is returning to Genoa on 17th December, once more with Outline and Show Technologies™. The RDS Stadium’s stage will host Belgian DJ/producer Charlotte De Witte, another of international Techno’s outstanding names.
