The great outdoors with Outline

Albania’s ASLV deploys its new Superfly at the South Outdoor Festival

Albania’s South Outdoor Festival is a celebration of all things outdoors: sport, culture, tradition, music, nature, and food. Over the 5-day event, taking place every summer in the country’s picturesque southern village of Borsh, the festival attracts participants from all over Europe to compete and have fun, enjoying and experiencing the features that makes Albania’s beautiful Riviera so special.

This unique festival combines sport, games, culture, tradition, cuisine, music, entertainment and everything else the area has to offer, and the organisers are committed to making the event as sustainable as possible.

Attendees flock to the Festival to enjoy over forty different outdoor activities, including paragliding, trike flying, mountain biking, canyoning, pilates, yoga, stand-up paddle, jeep safari and rafting, targeting all age groups, with something for everyone.

As far as music was concerned, as well as Albanian artists, the large cast at the 2022 editions also featured bands, DJs and vocalists from the Netherlands, Italy, Sweden, Australia and Switzerland.

For the second year, the sound and lighting contractor for what is one of the country’s  biggest artistic events was Tirana-based ASLV (Albanian Sound, Lighting and Video), Albania’s exclusive Outline distributor.

ASLV took delivery of an Outline Superfly Silver audio package in 2020, which it deployed at the Festival. Superfly loudspeaker systems have a true three-way (HF-MF-LF) design, but the dual high-efficiency 10” transducers in the LF section are powered individually, a feature enhancing low-frequency performance.

The midrange and HF components (dual 8” drivers and a single 3” compression driver) are those mounted on Outline’s GTO series, resulting in remarkable performance figures.

ASLV’s Superfly Silver rig, with its high size : power ratio, is ideal for sound reinforcement in venues with a capacity of between one and three thousand spectators. It comprises sixteen Superfly three-way high-power D.P.R.W.G.® line array elements, eight DBS 18-2 high-power subwoofer systems with twin 18” woofers, and four LIPF-082 two-way front-fill loudspeaker enclosures.

The amplification and control set-ups consist in four 4U touring racks with GTA-Otto amplifiers and a Newton 4U touring rack with Outline’s highly successful Newton 16+8 multi-source FPGA processor.

The configuration ensures the best ratio between loudspeaker and amplifier quantity, thus guaranteeing an excellent investment with a fast economic return. The systems also provide an excellent combination with kit from other Outline product ranges, such as GTO, C-12 and Mantas 28.

At the end of the five-day event, ASLV owner Florind Tenolli stated, “The Outline Superfly system used at the Borsh Festival met with a very good response, both from the artists who performed live and from the spectators, and the South Outdoor Festival was once again a real success this year!”

ASLV has operated nationwide since 2013 and, with its team of highly qualified staff, provides sound, lighting, video, staging and structures, as well as creative technical solutions for concerts, festivals, theatre and opera productions, key corporate events, expos and more throughout the country. Specialist services also include consultation and design.
